The claim was made by James Colgan of GOLF.
Colgan said the governing body that oversees the running of the major will charge $350 for a volunteer package.
This includes a uniform, a drawstring bag, a pin and food during shifts.
It is common for volunteers to charge a fee, but it is generally understood that fees will not be subject to the same price increases as tickets.

Earlier this week, all hell broke loose on social media after ticket prices for the 2025 competition at Bethpage Black in New York were announced.
Tickets go on sale in November and anyone who wants to be there has to spend $750 for one day of action.
The PGA of America has been accused of discriminating against true golf fans by pricing five times as much as the cheapest day ticket for this year’s Masters and US Open ($140).
Ryder Cup Championship Director Bryan Karns defended the price increase in an interview with SiriuxXM PGA Tour Radio.
Karns doubled his bet.
He compared the Ryder Cup to a “Tier 1” sporting event, similar to the NBA Finals or MLB’s World Series.

“We knew it was going to be critically important to get this right and try to do something that we felt was true to our self-image and our place in this world,” he said.
“But at the same time you have to understand that Ryder Cup tickets have some nuances.
“It’s an all-day event as opposed to three hours. There is no seat, but with a GA ticket you have a chance to be on a rope line, compared to if I had bought the standing room only at Yankee Stadium.”

“So we try to incorporate all of that. And it’s never so easy to say that it’s apples to apples.
“When you get into a situation where demand is so high, you want to do your best to price it so you don’t create this massively bloated secondary market.”
