The Tour of Guangxi will be the final World Tour event of the season; takes place from October 15th to 20th. The peloton will be in China for the final stage race of the season, but this will still be important for many. We’re previewing Level 5.
The royal stage. There’s absolutely nothing complicated about this day, it’s an almost flat stage on the fifth day of racing in China, which then offers an explosive finale that has seen riders crawl across the finish line in the past… Perhaps the most underrated steep climb in the World Tour Calendar.
After 160 kilometers of racing, riders reach the bottom of the climb to Nongla Scenic Spot. The climb is 4.4 kilometers long and averages about 7%. Not too difficult, but it’s a two-part climb that starts and finishes steeply, with a false flat section in the middle. However, the final kilometer is very steep with ramps of over 10% to the finish line, an anaerobic effort perhaps suitable for both punchers and climbers.
