BENNETT-WEBB: ROUND 4
A close round and Webb gets to the fifth round for the first time in his career. Neither seems confident about taking the fight into the later stages.
BENNETT-WEBB: ROUND 3
The slow pace allows Webb to gain confidence and in the final stages of the round he lands side throws with both hands that earn him the ten points.
BENNETT-WEBB: ROUND 2
Bennett had to be careful. He came awkwardly into range and is tagged more than once. One round each.
BENNETT-WEBB: ROUND 1
Bennett lands the bigger punches, forcing his experienced opponent to fall back to the ropes.
CO-MAIN EVENT UP NEXT
Nick Webb takes on Courtney Bennett for the Southern Area Heavyweight title.
VOLKOVS WINS ON POINTS!
He wins the competition 79-73. Even further apart than I had, but the right man raised his arm. Fletcher suffers his first professional loss.
FLETCHER-VOLKOVS: ROUND 8
It’s hard to do anything other than leave this round and the fight to the Latvian. They hope he won’t be denied. He deserves it. In this round it was important once again to force the fight and land close together with hooks and uppercuts
FLETCHER-VOLKOVS: ROUND 7
Volkovs dominated the round, landing shots on Fletcher as the southpaw retreated to the ropes without responding. Fletcher lands a good left hand at the bell.
FLETCHER-VOLKOVS: ROUND 6
They both start with big punches but don’t land. After that, neither fighter is particularly dominant anymore. Fletcher lands a good, powerful jab, but Volkovs is working harder on the inside. This fight could be evenly matched down to the final two.
FLETCHER-VOLKOVS: ROUND 5
Fletcher lands a couple of good lefties as Volkovs comes in, leading to the Latvian making a narrow save. That’s enough to dampen Volkov’s enthusiasm and win the round, but not much else follows.
FLETCHER-VOLKOVS: ROUND 4
Volkovs gains more and more confidence and lands a series of uppercuts and straight rights, with Fletcher making fewer and fewer throws to stop him.
FLETCHER-VOLKOVS: ROUND 3
Volkovs takes this round for me. Fletcher neglects his jab and his opponent lands hooks near the body and head.
FLETCHER-VOLKOVS: ROUND 2
It’s a good competition. Fletcher tries to set Volkovs up with right hooks or straight lefts, but his opponent’s head movement is good and the Brit doesn’t land a flush.
FLETCHER-VOLKOVS: ROUND 1
Fletcher allowed Volkovs to come forward and tried to catch him with vicious-looking southpaw strikes, but none had hit his Balkan opponent yet.
TOMMY FLETCHER IS NEXT…
A 6’3″ southpaw who has stopped six of his last eight opponents.
KING WINS ON POINTS!
Surprisingly, the referee scores the fight 39-37, but King still wins and is now 3-0-1 (1 KO).
KING PROTKUNAS: ROUND 4
King gets better as the fight goes on, doubling the jab and combining it with a right cross. A good training, even if there was never any doubt about the result.
KING-PROTKUNAS: ROUND 3
He gains confidence, King, lands a good one-two and then follows with a body shot. He gets caught with a few shots if he stays in range for too long, but boxes comfortably the rest of the round.
KING PROTKUNAS: ROUND 2
The Estonian opponent is showing signs of being dangerous when he gets close, but King is largely keeping the fight at arm’s length.
KING PROTKUNAS: ROUND 1
King controls the fight from long range with his jab. I’m not taking any risks here.
SAM KING NEXT…
He drew his third fight last time out and wants to get back to winning ways against his Estonian opponent.
It’s just begun…
ELIMASI STOPS NUSTES IN ROUND 2
Elimasi already has a number of fans at York Hall and there are sure to be more. He looks so exciting with his huge right hand. His one-two combination is exceptional and ends the Colombian’s resistance in the second round. Remember the name…
ELIMASI-NUSTES: 1ST ROUND
He idolizes Tommy Hearns and you can see the resemblance with the Cobra-like jab and subsequent piercing in his right hand. Nustes is on the canvas midway through the round but survives until the end.
ELLIOT ELIMASI DEBUT NEXT…
He faces Jairo Nustes.
FARRINGTON CELEBRATES IN STYLE!
FARRINGTON STOPS LOBERTO IN ROUND 2
Here, too, Farrington couldn’t miss Loberto with his shots, who went down twice by accumulating punches and ending with left hooks. The referee wisely waved him off as Loberto stepped off the deck for the second time.
FARRINGTON-LOBERTO: ROUND 1
Farrington was absolutely dominant over his inferior opponent, finding Loberto easy to land down with overhand rights and hooks with both hands. This should be over shortly.
LLOYD FARRINGTON STANDS FIRST…
The Animal hopes to make it 6-0 against Jesus Lobeto.
