OFFICIAL: Eli Iserbyt has been temporarily suspended and forced to pay a hefty fine following an incident with Ryan Kamp

The UCI has acted following Eli Iserbyt’s actions against Ryan Kamp in the altercation at the cyclocross race in Beringen. The Belgian stepped on his former teammate’s front derailleur, breaking it before Kamp dragged him and a heated exchange ensued. It took a week, but the Belgian is now facing significant consequences.

“Eli has already apologized publicly and also to Kamp himself,” reacted team manager Jürgen Mettepenningen. “I was hoping that he had already had his punishment of disqualification and fine behind him.” This additional sanction has an impact on the Superprestige rankings. In addition, Eli also misses out on the entry fee, which is also a shame for the organizers of these three races. The UCI could have solved this differently.”

Iserbyt has been suspended for three races, which is not a disaster at this point in the season, but does mean he will miss the first round of the Superprestige Cup, in which he is the defending champion. In addition, he will pay a fine of 2500 Swiss francs, in addition to the 100 he had previously paid,

Iserbyt actually raced in Ardooie this week, won the men’s race and is currently in good form. This series of races that he will miss will have an impact on the upcoming European Championships, which will take place in Pontevedra, Spain in two weeks. The Pauwels Sauzen-Bingoal rider definitely wants to be in great shape at the Koppenbergcross and this particular race, looking for big wins at the start of the season.
