Emma Raducanu announces next tournament while hinting at return from injury

Emma Raducanu has announced she will return from injury at the Hong Kong Open this month.

The Brit suffered injury problems again this year, which forced her to cancel her participation in the Korea Open last month.

She sprained the ligaments in her foot, which forced her to forfeit her match against Daria Katsatkina. She hasn’t played since.

This meant that the 2021 US Open winner had to miss the China Open despite her travel and was also excluded from the Ningbo Open in Hangzhou Bay.

But in a statement on social media, Raducanu revealed that she is preparing to take part in the Hong Kong Open, which begins on October 28.

“Hello everyone, this is Emma Raducanu,” she said.

Raducanu is not the only top tennis star to make a great comeback from injury at the tournament, with Naomi Osaka also announcing she is ready to take part.

In an Instagram story, Osaka revealed: “It was worse than I thought (I just have a high pain tolerance lol) and I’m trying my best to possibly play in Tokyo but I’m still waiting to see what the doctor says. “”

The Hong Kong Tennis Open boasts an impressive line-up of players. British number 1 Katie Boulter will take part in the competition alongside rising star Diana Shnaider and world number 38 Anastasia Potapova.

She missed most of the season last year after undergoing surgery on both wrists and ankles.

However, Raducanu once again asserted herself on the biggest stage of all when she reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon in the summer.

But after playing just three tournaments since the SW19 competition, including a first-round exit at the US Open, she has been hit by injuries again.
