Carlos Alcaraz scolds Andrew Castle after beating Rafael Nadal at the Six Kings Slam

Carlos Alcaraz has scolded Andrew Castle after the interviewer said Rafael Nadal was the “loser” following his defeat on Thursday.

Alcaraz and Nadal are currently competing at the Six Kings Slam in Saudi Arabia, with the latter playing in his penultimate tournament.

It was the younger man who won the duel: Alcaraz secured a 6-3, 6-2 victory over his compatriot.

After the game, Castle interviewed both players. The former tennis star said, referring to Nadal: “Do you mind if I start with the loser?”

But then Alcaraz started gesturing with his hands and said: “Don’t talk like that. Don’t talk like that.”

The four-time Grand Slam winner then turned to Nadal and added: “There is no loser. You are Rafa.”

The exchange was good-natured, with Alcaraz afterwards greeting his Spanish compatriot – although he ruthlessly dispatched him.

The youngster, looking to build on a brilliant year that has already seen him win the French Open and Wimbledon, will now set his sights on beating Jannik Sinner on Saturday.

After his win, Sinner said: “We played a final in Shanghai not too many days ago, we were both slightly tired and made a few mistakes.
