Fabio Wardley says he would ‘love’ to fight Deontay Wilder: ‘Who could finish first’

Although he has not confirmed, at least officially, whether he will actually fight again, former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder’s name continues to be in the headlines since his last fight, a loss in June to Zhilei Zhang. There have been articles about the possibility of Wilder returning to bridgerweight to become two-weight champion, and now there are rumors about a possible fight between Wilder and the up-and-coming Fabio Wardley.

Shortly after Wardley, 18-0-1(17), scored a devastating first-round knockout in his rematch against British rival Frazer Clarke, he was asked whether he would take on a fight with Wilder if it were offered to him . The 29-year-old, now ranked No. 09 by Ring Magazine, said he would “love” to get in the ring with Wilder.

“Yes, I would,” Wardley replied when asked if he would fight Wilder. “It was an interesting name that I saw on Twitter and the like, but I jumped in and gave it a try. I would like to speak out against him because ultimately it’s a battle of bombs and who could land first and who could land cleaner. I think as far as boxing and starting, I’m proving that. I gain more experience, more knowledge. With Ben [Davison] In my corner, who has already played against Wilder, this is a big advantage.”

Davison trains Joseph Parker, who won a wide decision against Wilder before Wilder was thrown out by Big Bang. Now if he decides to fight again, will Wilder even know who Wardley is? No disrespect to Wardley, who is undoubtedly a real contender, but will Wilder, 43-4-1(42), even see him fight? What would be the price for Wilder if he took on Wardley? In all likelihood Wilder would return to the top 10 in the world with a win over Wardley and the fight would perhaps give Wilder a big win, perhaps if the fight were to take place in a stadium in the UK, perhaps with a strong support card in place and position.

But again, it’s possible that Wilder has had enough of fighting, and if he comes back, could Wilder choose a bigger name than Wardley? But would we watch if Wardley fought Wilder? Damn straight. Many other people are hoping that Wilder has made his last boxing match faded enough to face both Parker and Zhang. But for now, Wilder, who turns 39 next week, is still making some headlines.
