Floyd Mayweather reportedly wants to spend $402 million (£309 million) on a block of flats in New York.
Mayweather has a vast property empire, which includes a Las Vegas mansion he bought for $10 million (£7.6 million), with two guest houses and a private vineyard, and an $18 million Miami Beach estate (13.8 million pounds) belong to the Palm Island Conclave.
However, the boxing legend has no intention of stopping.
Mayweather is close to closing a lucrative multi-apartment deal in Manhattan that will add further value to his real estate portfolio.
According to The Real Deal, Mayweather has inked a deal with Josh Gotlib of Black Spruce Management for a 1,000-unit affordable housing portfolio in more than 60 buildings.
The report adds that it will be one of the city’s biggest housing deals of the year – and it’s one that’s close to Mayweather’s heart.
“This purchase has deep emotional meaning for me and my family,” Mayweather said in a statement.
Mayweather grew up in a one-bedroom apartment with six relatives in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
“When people see what I have now, they have no idea where I came from and why I had nothing as a child,” he told the Mercury News in 2007.
This isn’t the first time “Money” Mayweather has bought real estate in New York.
“TBE” bought nine skyscrapers in 2022 and invested in a casino to be built in Times Square.
While the 47-year-old continues to put his money where his mouth is outside the ring, he continues to make it inside the ropes too.
The American boxing icon retired from professional boxing in 2017 with an unblemished record of 50-0, but has earned over $250 million from exhibition bouts with YouTubers, reality TV stars and everything in between.
He claims to have pocketed $100 million (£76.8 million) for his fight with content creator Logan Paul alone, while he was paid $1 million (£768,000) just for picking up the phone and to negotiate a competition with Deji Olatunji.
His lucrative post-career salary days have helped his net worth rise to over $400 million (£307 million).
“When it comes to legalized bank robberies, I’m the best,” Mayweather said after his fight with Paul.
“All the guys you said were extraordinary, the Canelos, the Pacquiaos, I made them look ordinary.”
“And now when I see that there’s a chance for me to pull off a quick robbery, I’m the smartest at the end of the day.
“They say, ‘Oh Floyd, doesn’t look as good as it used to,’ but my bank account is looking better every day.”
