JOEY ESSEX’S boxing debut has been postponed – but talks over a fight for the TV star are still ongoing.
The Only Way is Essex legend was about to appear on Misfits Boxing’s Qatar ‘supercard’, with KSI’s brother Deji as his scheduled opponent.
But the 27-year-old Deji was noticeably announced without an opponent on the November 28th card.
Essex’s boxing debut remains in limbo but Misfits boss Mams Taylor revealed the door is still wide open.
Taylor told SunSport: “Well, let’s see how that turns out.”
“But Joey and I have had conversations and I think he would be great on Misfits.”
“He’s such a villain by nature, like a lovable villain, and we need characters like him, and I’m confident Joey will show up on Misfits sooner or later.”
Misfits Boxing was launched in 2022 by YouTuber and prizefighter KSI and his music mogul manager Mams Taylor.
And it has become a home for celebrity-style crossover fights, with stars from the boxing, MMA and social media worlds involved in big fights.
Taylor expects the 34-year-old Essex reality TV star to be added to his squad – just not against 2-4 Deji yet.

He said: “Deji was just a bit too experienced for your first fight and while I think it would have made a great story, it just didn’t work out in the end.”
“But yeah, I look forward to having Joey around in the future. I think instead of fighting Deji in his first fight, I think he wants to get some experience there and see how it turns out.”
“And then I think that’s going to be a big fight in the future. Maybe he’ll get a few wins, build history and I think it could happen.”
Essex’s uncle Tony Sims is a respected trainer who used to train Anthony Joshua and often has his famous nephew at his gym in Romford.
